EPA Administrator to Speak at INTERPOL Meeting on E-Waste

Washington – Today, May 25, 2010, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson will speak at a meeting of INTERPOL’s Global E-Waste Crime Group. More than 90 representatives from 22 countries are gathering May 25-27 to focus on developing a worldwide strategy to combat the illegal traffic of electronic waste, a growing international problem that poses environmental and health risks, especially in developing countries in Africa and in Asia. Today, the first day of the meeting, will be open to the public and the media. The remaining days are working law enforcement sessions that will be closed to the media and the public.
