6 January 2006 (Mumbai) – Briac Beilvert, the Chief Executive Officer of the French company Ship Decommissioning Industries SAS, expressed his readiness to testify before the Supreme Court's Monitoring Committee on Hazardous Waste and submit information in connection with dismantling of the former French aircraft carrier 'Clemenceau'.

Ship Decommissioning Industries SAS has been commissioned by the French government to carry out the de-pollution and dismantling of Clemenceau.

According to high level standards of safety for workers and the environment, Mr Beilvert is keen to provide the member of Monitoring Committee with all the appropriate documents relevant to the de-pollution and dismantling of the vessel.

As the arrival of the ex-French aircraft carrier in India is a controversial issue, Mr Beilvert wanted to explain the essence of the project and to dismiss any false allegation.

Mr Beilvert had sent a letter to the Monitoring Committee members in this regard on January three, saying, the project was based on a unique co-operation between the Indian and French companies and offers a concrete solution to the problem of de-pollution and dismantling of decommissioned merchant ships and warships while establishing high level standards for such operations and allowing the Indian ship dismantling industry to upgrade its standards.
